Rukiye Abdul-Mutakallim turned personal tragedy into a mission for change, advocating for healing, justice, and community empowerment through compassion and action.
How and Why, It Came to Be
As the CEO and Founder of The Musketeer Association (TMA), my journey began with a
personal tragedy — the loss of my son to a heinous crime on June 29, 2015. Seeking
understanding, I uncovered a harrowing truth: our youth, particularly in Black, Brown, and
Indigenous (BBI) communities, are under attack by a “man-made disease” of pandemic
proportions—the Man-Made Disease of Trauma (MMDT).
Through extensive research, tracing back to the 1700s, I identified a deliberate system
designed to suppress and exploit BBI children. This system manifests in:
• Human Trafficking—a $150 billion industry preying on vulnerable youth.
• The Penal System—a modern form of slavery, sentencing children as young as 13
to 50 years in prison.
• 3rd Grade-to-Prison Pipeline—a targeted design ensuring BBI children remain
trapped in cycles of poverty and incarceration.
These injustices are fueled by systemic issues such as:
1. Substandard education and healthcare.
2. Financial illiteracy and Low-Wage employment.
3. Nutritional deserts and drug-induced dependencies.
4. High unemployment rates and a lack of skilled workforce development.
5. Entrenched poverty preventing homeownership and community growth.
6. Generational birth defects due to educational and healthcare disparities.
Personal History and Call to Action Born into servitude in the heart of the Ku Klux Klan’s
stronghold in North Carolina, I witnessed firsthand the brutal oppression inflicted upon BBI
communities—lynchings, beatings, kidnappings, and systemic killings. These injustices
fueled the Civil Rights Movement, a fight my family and I actively participated in from a
young age. I vividly recall battles for fundamental human rights, including access to
healthcare, education, and economic opportunity.
MMDT is the undercurrent driving these systemic failures, ensuring BBI communities
remain disenfranchised through oppression, suppression, and slow genocide. It
masquerades as justice while denying fundamental human rights: nutrition, shelter,
education, financial stability, and the ability to pursue dreams.
Understanding this, I recognized that these children—both victims and perpetrators—are
products of an unjust system. I chose forgiveness as my response, reaching over 44.7
million people through a powerful courtroom testimony. My advocacy led me to work with
organizations such as CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), OTSE (Ohioans to Stop
Executions), CFSY (Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth), and the Ohioan Poor
People’s Campaign, among others.
The Birth of The Musketeer Association TMA was founded to combat MMDT and ensure
the survival of BBI communities and the ecosystem—both under attack. Our mission is to
eradicate MMDT using methods that foster:
• Healing through restorative justice and trauma-informed care.
• Resilience by equipping communities with financial and educational
empowerment.
• Sustainability through environmental and social justice initiatives.
• Awareness by exposing the systemic roots of MMDT.
• Beautification of communities to restore dignity and hope.
TMA’s vision is clear: Stop Violence, Racism, and Fascism (VRF) where it begins—at
home. We fight to save the 3-Bs (Babies, Butterflies, and Bees), recognizing that without
them, humanity has no future.
Building a Legacy To ensure the longevity of this mission, TMA has established a Junior
Board of Directors Division, training future leaders to carry the torch forward. Through
education, advocacy, and strategic action, we aim to dismantle MMDT, freeing generations
from its invisible chains and empowering communities to reclaim their futures.\
TMA is not just an Association—it is a movement. A call to action. A commitment to justice.
The Musketeer Association Motto: “One for All and All for One”!
